Dr Levita D'Souza
Levita is a Counselling Psychologist in private practice, researcher, lecturer and mother (in no particular order). She completed her Doctoral studies at Latrobe University, however prior to this she was working in orphanages and hospital psychiatric units to support children and their caregivers in India. It was these experiences that led to her keen interest in attachment theory and the impact of trauma on neurobiology and attachments.
Since finishing her studies Levita has worked supporting children and their families recover from difficult experiences, as well as providing psychological assessment and general counselling to young children and their families. Her research interests are in attachment theory and attachment parenting and she will soon complete additional certification in Neuropsychotherapy.
Levita’s parenting is heavily influenced by attachment theory and her own experience of being raised overseas. Her life experiences have consolidated her professional belief that parenting is an opportunity for personal growth. In her personal life, Levita works hard to live by these values and is actively engaged in gently parenting her child. She is very excited to be part of MummyCon 2018.
